Council’s Invest Mackay Events and Conference Attraction Program was introduced to support the attraction of major sporting and cultural events, concerts and conferences to stimulate the local economy.
Council has a strong desire to attract national and international sport organisations and businesses to the Mackay region and has a range of incentives, funding and support for sport activities and relocating sport organisations to the region such as:

Our legends are among Australia’s elite and include sprinter, Cathy Freeman, basketball player and coach Sandy Brondello, and current swimming sensation, Meg Harris, to name just a few.
