Mackay’s construction industry is the key propulsive sector for this region, contributing 11.3 per cent of total output. Due to the well-developed local supply chains, the construction industry has a significant capacity to deliver broad based economic benefits for our region.

Strong economic growth is driving demand for residential and commercial developments. By 2041, our population is forecast to increase by 1.69 per cent each year to almost 179,000. Construction firms based in the region are at the forefront of innovative residential, commercial and industrial design and construction, bringing world-class expertise to the projects they undertake.

With several major projects currently underway or due to commence soon, the construction industry will continue to be a major component of our regional economy.
